I’m Jeff. I define myself first as a family man: A husband to a lovely lady and father of two amazing kids.
Actually, it’s family that got me interested in photography in the first place. After years of taking mediocre photos with a mediocre camera, it was my wife’s pregnancy with our first child that motivated me to upgrade to a serious DSLR camera. After all, I wanted to document this momentous occasion to the best of my abilities.
It turns out, my story is not unique. It seems that thousands of photographers get serious about the hobby precisely for the same reason.
So, my not so unique story began in 2011 with the purchase of a Nikon D5000 camera kit. It took significant effort to convince my wife that a $600 camera was necessary in order to take simple pictures. She certainly had a point; my photography skills in 2011 were laughable. Many would argue they still are…
I quickly realized that I could take semi-professional looking family portraits in the comfort of my own home. To make a long story short, I soon upgraded to a Nikon D90, and then again to a Nikon D600 full frame camera which is what I’m currently using.
Since I have invested enough time and money into the hobby, I have set high standards for my photographs. Of course, with so many amazing photographers publishing amazing images, there’s a great deal of inspiration available and I’ll keep raising my standards as I learn from these inspirations.
Fortunately, my family and I are now living in Switzerland. As a hobbyist photographer this is ideal since it gives me access to spectacular landscapes that are easily accessible during four full seasons. In the few years that I’ve been enjoying photography I’ve learned several important lessons, but one clearly stands out more than the rest:
No matter where you are, there is always a great photo to be taken if you’re mindful and patient enough to get it. I’d like to think that within this website, which I’ve spent tireless hours creating and dedicating entirely to my passion of photography, you will find some photos that you also think are great. And if you do, please feel free to copy the photos, use them as a background, and enjoy the photos as much as I enjoyed taking them.
